The Ontario Provincial Police has charged one of its own officers in the northwestern Ontario region with assault and sexual assault.
In a news release Wednesday, the OPP said the charges stem from an investigation into a domestic-related incident.
According to police, the officer does not work on front-line duties and has now been placed on administrative duties.
To protect the identity of the victim, no further information about the case will be released, OPP said.
