A nine-year officer with the Ontario Provincial Police has been charged with two counts of assault in connection with an incident at the Hawkesbury detachment early on Canada Day.

A statement posted by the OPP on Nov. 23 said Const. Alexandre Bolduc had been released from custody and was scheduled to appear in court in L’Orignal at a later day.

At about 2 a.m. on July 1, a vehicle was observed driving through the staff parking lot of the Hawkesbury detachment in what was described as a suspicious manner, the release said.

Officers responded as two individuals exited the vehicle and the interaction led to the duo receiving injuries that required medical treatment.

The OPP’s Professional Standards Unit launched an investigation into the incident in July, and two officers were suspended with pay. The charges against Bolduc were laid on Nov. 22.

The Professional Standards Unit investigation remained ongoing, the news release said.

An Ontario Provincial Police officer with the detachment in Hawkesbury, Ont., has been charged with two counts of assault, the police force says.

The charges stem from an early morning incident on July 1 when officers at the detachment spotted a vehicle driving in a "suspicious manner" through their staff parking lot, according to a Saturday evening media release.

When two people got out of the vehicle, officers reacted, the OPP said.

In the ensuing "interaction," the two people were both injured and ended up needing medical treatment, the OPP said.

Two officers ended up being suspended with pay while the force's professional standards unit carried out an investigation into what happened.

On Friday, Const. Alexandre Bolduc was charged with two counts of assault, the OPP said.

Bolduc, a nine-year veteran of the OPP, has been released from custody and is set to appear in court in L'Orignal, Ont., at a future date.

The professional standards unit is still investigating, the OPP said.

OPP say a vehicle was observed driving through the staff parking lot of the eastern Ontario detachment in a "suspicious manner" on July 2 at approximately 2 a.m.

Officers responded to the scene as two people exited suspect vehicle. During an interaction, two people suffered injuries which required medical treatment, OPP said in a news release.

No other details on the incident were provided.

The OPP's professional standards unit subsequently launched an investigation in the incident. Two officers were suspended with pay during the investigation.

On Friday, Const. Alexandre Bolduc of the Hawkesbury OPP detachment, was charged with two counts of assault. Bolduc had been with the OPP for nine years, the force said.
