An Essex County OPP officer has been arrested and charged with drunk driving after a car crash in Lakeshore.

Provincial police said officers responded around 1 a.m. Sunday to a single-vehicle crash at the intersection of County Road 22 and West Pike Creek Road.

The OPP said officers arrested the driver after determining he had been drinking alcohol. The Windsor Police Service conducted a breath test.

Steven Heredi, 40, of Lakeshore, is charged with operation while impaired – alcohol, and operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration, 80 milligrams or more. His licence was suspended for 90 days and his car was impounded for seven days.

Heredi, who works out of the Lakeshore detachment, has been an OPP officer for 12 years. He is scheduled to appear in court on November 4.

Off-duty OPP officer arrested for impaired driving

An off-duty OPP officer has been arrested for impaired driving.

According to the OPP, on Sunday, October 18th, 2020, at approximately 1am, they responded to a single-vehicle collision report at the intersection of County Road 22 and West Pike Creek in Lakeshore.

The investigation revealed the driver had been consuming alcohol. The driver was arrested for operating a motor vehicle while impaired, and the Windsor Police Service conducted a breath test.

Steven Heredi, 40-years-old of Lakeshore, is charged with operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs and operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration, 80 milligrams or more.

The accused is a member of the Ontario Provincial Police and is currently in his 12th year of service. He is a member of the Lakeshore detachment.

He was issued a 90-day administrative driver’s licence suspension, and the vehicle was impounded for seven days and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Windsor on November 4th, 2020.

An officer with the Ontario Provincial Police in Lakeshore is facing impaired driving charges after a single-vehicle crash in Lakeshore on Sunday.

The OPP were called to the site of the crash at the intersection of County Road 22 and West Pike Creek around 1 a.m. Sunday. Officers determined the driver had been consuming alcohol and the Windsor Police Service was called to do a breath test.

Steven Heredi, 40, of Lakeshore, is charged with the operation of a motor vehicle while impaired with a blood alcohol concentration of 80 milligrams or more. The charge has not been proven in court.

The accused is a 12-year member of the service. He was not on duty at the time of the crash.

The accused was issued a 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (ADLS) and his vehicle was impounded for seven days.
