Fri Feb 14, 2020 7:25 am

WELLINGTON COUNTY, Ont. -- A 14-year veteran of the Ontario Provincial Police has been suspended from duty after being charged with four criminal offences, including breach of trust.

The OPP has not shared any details of the circumstances that led to its investigation, which was launched earlier this month.

But the force says Sukhvinder Singh Toor was arrested on Wednesday by members of its professional standards bureau.

He's been charged with breach of trust, attempting to obstruct justice, as well as intercepting and disclosing a private communication.

Police say Toor is a long-time member of the force's Wellington County detachment.

He's due to appear in court next month.

The Professional Standards Bureau launched an investigation into the conduct of one of their officers earlier this month, resulting in the arrest of Const. Sukhvinder Singh Toor on Wednesday.

Toor is charged with breach of trust, attempting to obstruct justice, interception of a private communication, and disclosure of private communication.

The officer is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Guelph on March 20.
