A veteran member of the Oxford OPP has been charged following an assault complaint this week in Norfolk County.
The 24-year member of the force was charged with assault Thursday in connection with an alleged incident that occurred on Tuesday.
Police usually release the name of people charged with serious crimes such as assault. In this instance however, the name has been withheld.
“We will not be releasing the name of the officer involved because it could lead to the identification of the victim,” Derek Rogers, a media relations officer with the OPP, said in an email Friday.
The accused will answer the charge in the Ontario Court of Justice in Simcoe April 2.
