AUGUSTA, Ont. — Ontario’s provincial police force says one of its officers is facing a domestic assault charge.

Police say they were called to the Augusta Township home of an off-duty officer two weeks ago for what they characterize as a “domestic incident.”

The officer, a 44-year-old man who has been with the police force for 13 years, now faces charges that include assault with a weapon.

Police say the unnamed officer is still working for the provincial police service, and has been assigned administrative duties.

He appeared in court in Brockville on Friday.
