Veteran Oxford County OPP Officer Charged With Impaired DrivingA 20-year veteran with Oxford County OPP has been charged with impaired driving following a two vehicle collision in a Tillsonburg parking lot.
The officer was off-duty at the time of the incident, Police said.
It happened at approximately 7:42 p.m. on Tuesday when a Dodge Caravan struck a Dodge Nitro in the parking lot of the Tillsonburg Soccer Club on Quarter Line Road.
No injuries were reported as a result of the collision.
Police say the driver of the Caravan, an off-duty Oxford County OPP officer, was found to have been consuming alcohol.
44-year-old Terry McGregor of Tillsonburg has been charged with care or control while impaired and care or control over 80 milligrams.
She is scheduled to appear in court on September 30, 2014 to answer to the charges.
This is the second law enforcement officer in Oxford County charged with impaired driving this week.
On Wednesday, a member of the Woodstock Police Service wan charged with impaired driving after an alleged off-duty incident last month.
Investigators say it was around 1:44 a.m. on July 4th when Woodstock Police responded to a crash involving one vehicle at the corner of Dundas and Oxford Streets.
Police say the vehicle was gone when they got to the scene, but they were able to figure out what allegedly took place.
They say the vehicle travelled north on Mill Street, through the Dundas Street intersection and then went onto Oxford Street. It was at that point that the vehicle allegedly left the road, hit a Canada Post mailbox and then stopped after hitting a fence.
Officers say no one was injured in the crash and damage was minor.
As a result of the investigation, Woodstock Police say 29-year-old Mitchell Blair, a constable with the Woodstock Police Service, was charged with one count of impaired operation of a motor vehicle and failing to report damage to property.
In a release issued Wednesday afternoon, Woodstock Police Chief Rod Freeman made the following statement:
“It is always regrettable when an officer becomes involved in an offence such as these allegations of Impaired Driving and Failing to Report Damage to Property. However, it is important to allow the charges to move through the court process without prejudice.”
Woodstock Police say Blair is schedule to appear in court on the 19th of August to answer to the charges.
