Officer charged after crash involving OPP cruiser in Ingersoll

A police officer has been charged after a crash in Ingersoll on Tuesday.

Oxford County OPP say they responded to a collision involving a vehicle and one of their own OPP cruisers on King Street around 7:50 a.m.

Police say one driver sustained minor injuries, though it's unclear which driver was hurt.

The police officer, an Oxford County OPP constable with 12 years of service, was issued a provincial offence notice for not safely starting from a stopped position.

OPP officer causes crash, receives ticket

The Oxford OPP reported Friday that one of their own officers was ticketed after a collision between a car and an OPP cruiser.

According to the statement, the incident occurred Tuesday when police responded to a crash between a car and an OPP cruiser on King Street in Ingersoll.

The OPP charged a constable with start from a stopped position – not in safety. The officer, who has not been named, has 12 years of service with the police service.

One driver suffered minor injuries. It was not immediately clear whether this was the officer or the driver of the second car.

The officer was issued a provincial offence notice.
