OPP Officer Charged After Collision With SUV While En Route To Emergency Call
A 18-year veteran of the OPP has been charged under the Highway Traffic Act after crash with a SUV in Lambton County.
The OPP says the crash happened at the intersection of Petrolia Line and Oil Heritage Road around 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
Investigators say the officer, who is a member of the Emergency Response Team, was travelling west on Petrolia Line in a fully marked pick-up truck on his way to an emergency call in Petrolia, he collided with a Ford SUV was headed south on Oil Heritage Road.
Officers say the driver of the SUV, a 32-year-old Plympton-Wyoming woman, suffered minor injuries and was treated at a local hospital and released. The OPP officer was not injured.
As a result of the investigation, the OPP says Sgt. Peter Vanderheide has been issued a provincial offence notice for red light – fail to stop contrary to the Highway Traffic Act.
