OPP officer charged with reversing into another cruiser

Postby Thomas » Wed Mar 12, 2014 10:15 am

An 18-year member of the OPP was charged after backing a marked cruiser into another marked cruiser on a portion of Highway 401 that travels through Oxford County.

The officer stopped on the shoulder of the Highway to check on the wellbeing of a motorist sometime on March 1. Once clear of the call for service, the officer started backing up the full marked cruiser in order to depart from the scene and struck another marked cruiser that had pulled in behind to assist.

No one was injured during the collision and there was minor damage reported to both vehicles.

Const. Toni Reinholt was issued a provincial offence notice for starting from stopped position-not in safety contrary to the Highway Traffic Act.
