The new OPP billing formula means a hike in policing costs in Georgian Bluffs next year.

(Georgian Bluffs) Georgian Bluffs is NOT one of the municipalities that will save money under the new OPP billing model.

Mayor Alan Barfoot says the new estimate is 1.35 million dollars for policing in 2015, up from 1.2 million this year.

Barfoot says it's not unexpected and council will have to budget for the roughly 10 percent cost increase next year.

The OPP released it's new billing formula in the summer, with a 60 percent base cost and 40 percent depending on calls for service.

Mayor Barfoot says they will undertake an education program to make it clear to residents that each time they call the OPP for minor incidents, there is a cost attached.

A number of municipalities in Grey Bruce are actually looking at a cut in the cost of OPP coverage, including Brockton which is looking at a 200 thousand dollar savings in 2015.

When the OPP funding model was released, it was estimated 207 of 324 municipalities would see an increase in costs, with 115 seeing a drop.
