Pair of OPP officers ticketed after collisions

Postby Thomas » Fri Jun 12, 2015 4:39 pm

Police had to issue two press releases about officers charged after collisions within hours of each other on Friday (June 12).

The first collision happened in Innerkip north of Woodstock on May 31 when a six-year veteran of the Ontario Provincial Police struck a car while turning out of a private drive at about 3:44 p.m.

On June 6, a rookie constable reversed into a car stopped at a red light after dealing with a complaint about a youth on a skateboard. It was about 8 p.m. on Queen Street in St. Mary’s.

Neither collision resulted in injuries or more than cosmetic damage to the vehicles. Both officers were charged with start from stopped position – not in safety under the Highway Traffic Act.

The charges haven’t been proven in court.

Two OPP officers charged in Southwestern Ontario crashes

Postby Thomas » Sat Jun 13, 2015 4:42 am

Provincial police announced Friday they had laid traffic charges against two officers in separate crashes in the Southwestern Ontario region.

The first incident occurred in Innerkip on May 31, when an Oxford County OPP officer reversed out of a private driveway onto Blandford St. and hit a parked vehicle on the other side of the roadway, police said.

A week later, a Perth County OPP officer reversed into the back corner of a stopped vehicle waiting at a red light on Queen St. in St. Marys, police said.

There were no injuries in either case and both officers are charged under the Highway Traffic Act.

(St. Mary's) - A Perth County OPP officer has been ticketed in connection with a collision in St. Mary's earlier this month.

The officer had stopped on a street to deal with a complaint about skateboarder.

But when she finished -- she backed her police cruiser into a car that was stopped at a red light.
